It has been a while since we've done some studio work. Due to the renovations to the studio, our main shooting area was more of a storage space up until now.

Yesterday we met with Nick, an aspiring businessman with great vision and drive. It was a fun time photographing him as he really hasn't been in front of a professional lens. However, after a few minutes of chit chatting and some warm up shots, we were on a roll.

SDL Lighting

We were asked by Quebec company SDL Lighting to photograph some of their fixtures throughout the downtown core.

You've probably walked by them hundreds of times but never noticed them. Using filters and long shutter times, we captured the lights.

As some of you know, we try to spend minimal time post processing so getting it right in camera is super important to us.

BDO Spirit Day

As the Olympic torch is making it's final leg around the Vancouver area, I was contacted by our client to come down and photograph their Spirit Day.

The group showcased their Canada Olympic wear in all their glory out in front of the Olympic Countdown clock.

The downtown core is starting to get crowded, and you can feel the buzz in the air.

Three Sixty Photography wants to wish all the Canadian Athletes good luck at the games!

Wedding Soiree

Earlier this month Three Sixty Photography had a chance to participate at the Wedding Soiree held at the Mariott Pinnacle downtown. Vancouver wedding photographers, decorators, dj's and videographers were all in attendance. We saw some familiar faces and some new trends for the new year! It was a fabulous night filled with tons of vendors and of course brides to be. We had an amazing time there and made some new friends in the industry.

Renovating...

The beginning of 2010 found us wanting to give the studio a bit of a facelift. We worked day and night for 7 days straight and I must say... we're pooped.

I want to thank Geoff, Samson, Simon, Jimmy, Kevin, Rod and Allen for helping us out on the renovations. Most of us knew nothing about renovating but we sure learned a lot in a short amount of time.

Allen came by to the studio to get a head shot for his brochure. While he was busy adjusting his clothes I snapped a quick picture.

The last wedding of the year.

On Friday, we shot our last wedding of the year. It was a cold day, but the weather gods were in our favor!

Catherine and Eric are madly in love. You can tell by the way they interact, you can tell Catherine is just tickled pink by just the sheer presence of her man.

We started our day with a portrait session. Just before the portrait session we had a first look. Catherine was all smiles and Eric was very happy to see his blushing bride!

The portraits were out near the Lonsdale Quay. There was quite a bit of construction going on, but we made do. The girls were rocking it and we just really had a good ol time out on the pier.

From there we made our way to Sutherland church in North Vancouver for their ceremony. Now, Catherine and Eric are already legally married, but on that day, they renewed those vows to each other. It was a joyous occasion filled with lots of energy and emotion. I loved this shot of Catherine's dad hugging her just before he hands her to Eric.

After the ceremony, a few quick pictures were taken and we made our way to Capilano Suspension Bridge for the reception in the Canyon Room.

The Canyon House was VERY cozy and decorated for the holidays. Outside, the lights were twinkling and the air was brisk. The reception was a very intimate affair, a perfect way to end the evening!

Congratulations Catherine and Eric! We wish you a lifetime of love and happiness!

Yesterday evening we photographed Alexia and family whom we photographed earlier this year for her daughter's baptism.

This time they came into the studio for some casual portraits. We decided to test drive a different set of white background instead of the commercial high key output.

Soggy Soggy Wedding... Shining results!

Rain is the norm for Vancouver, especially during November. Saturday was no different. Mike Lee and I trekked out to Cloverdale and Surrey to photograph Raman and Leena`s wedding. The rain didn't stop the festivities for this wedding... no sir! They trooped it all out with smile on their faces.

Due to some time issues, we had to be nimble and work on the fly to keep to an ever changing schedule. Weddings are so dynamic and of course. We work hard to ensure that we keep flow with the wedding and still maintain the heart and soul of the day!

Leena was absolutely gorgeous for the day! And Raman stepped it up for the reception after getting out of the traditional clothing for the day. Due to some late time constraints before the reception, we got to test drive some of our digital background technology.

The Right Frame of Mind

There are lots of photographers in Vancouver. Just look up in any Google search engine and you'll find hundreds. So what separates them apart from each other? Well... to be honest, a lot of things can set them apart from each other.

This Sunday we had quite the challenge. Anyone who has kids knows that when they are young they are vibrant and energetic! One child is often pretty easy to handle, two... managable, three a bit of a handful. So how about 5? As a photographer, you have to have the right frame of mind when handling so many children. When put together the combined is greater than the sum of the parts. There is just something synergistic about having a lot of children in one place.

Our client wanted a photograph of all the children together, having fun and interesting photographs was definitely her biggest concern. Well, here's a teaser of what we did in studio. Challenging? Yes... Rewarding? Very.

She came to us today for her first portrait session. Only 4 months old Lyla has already learned to use her facial muscles very well. Her smile is super infectious and her eyes are super bright. What a pleasure to photograph!

We made our way out to Langley to Excel Jewellers to photograph some items that they had. With specific instructions from the owner we photographed some of their designs and creations.

Due to the nature of the project, we moved our equipment to their location and shot the jewellery in house.

Art for Life 2009

Deborah Wallace from the Finer Details asked us if we would photograph a charity event called Art for Life that helped support the Vancouver Friends for Life Society, whose mission is to serve as a catalyst to enhance the wellness of individuals living with a life threatening illness by providing complementary and alternative health and support services. Of course, I said yes! Every year Three Sixty Photography chooses a few events to volunteer at. This year Art For Life was an event we chose to do.

The event was held at the Rocky Mountaineer station just off of Terminal and what an extraordinary evening it was! The art was beautiful, the food was delicious and the crowd was buzzing! They had a Silent Auction where, I actually won a set of hockey tickets! The food was catered by the amazing Emelle's Catering and the music provided by Hot Wax mobile DJ. The auction got very heated and some amazing pieces were bid for feverishly.

In my books, I think the evening was successful. Congratulations to all the parties involved on making this event happen!

Kelly and Jason

It was a rainy day on November 7th, 2009. As we made our way to St. Augustine's Church and Kelly's home, I couldn't help think to myself that I would have loved it to stop raining just for a little while so I could get some lovely fall portraits of the couple.

As luck would have it, Kelly and Jason were blessed to have a short window of time where the rain stopped and the sun peeked through. We quickly went to go take advantage of the good fortune and made our way down to Stanley Park.

Racing against time, we managed to get some photographs before the sun set and then off we went to the Terminal City Club for the reception.

Doing it right at Derma Bright

We spent part of the afternoon yesterday after our munchkin portrait session at the Derma Bright Clinic in Vancouver.

Derma Bright is a skin care clinic located on Broadway and McDonald. They wanted some photos of their waiting area as well as some images of a treatment. We happily obliged and below are some of the photos!

We were rocking it in the studio yesterday with a boatload of munchkins! Dr. Sooch and family came in to the studio to get some family portraits done. They also had some of their cousins come by and get photos taken as well.

Now you can imagine what a small studio with a heap load of kids under 6 is like. Harnessing their attention was quite the task. In the end we managed to get some little gems. HAHAH! Love kids.

Meeting with a Torch Bearer

Reza and Sazia

We were given a call about a week back to come and photograph this reception on Friday night. Reza and Sazia had already been married back in Scotland and was having their Vancouver reception at Riverside Banquet Halls located in Richmond.

It was a very intimate affair with family being the very forefront of the whole event. Here are some images.

Sazia has a beautiful smile and was really wonderful to work with all evening. I kinda wished that we could have photographed the wedding in Scotland.

This Halloween, the studio was so busy that I couldn't get out and find a costume. Alas, I shaved a gote and put on some mafia style clothing and went as an asian mobster.

We went out to a house party in Vancouver for a friend's birthday party and had a blast. A buddy of mine dressed up as a nerd and we all thought that was a hoot!

At the end of the night while chatting over some Tim Horton's tea, we were laughing that we could have been Hiro Nakamura from Heroes, before his transformation as a lowly corporate person and then to the subway scene later on.

We decided to have some fun this morning in the studio and put this to light. We had a blast. I think it looks pretty good overall.

Piecing the puzzle to success

Although we have work pending that I'm dying to put on the blog, I must wait.

However, last night I was fortunate enough to be invited to a seminar at my CA's firm. I had the honor and pleasure of meeting Ms. Heather White. She is a business development coach and volunteered her precious time to sit down with a few local business owners to talk about ways to improve your business and success.

Although the seminar was only an hour, I could have probably picked her brains for days. She had a lot of amazing insight and suggestions to help me with the business.

The last few days of mine have been spent on business development and so this seminar came at a very good time.

Christmas time in Vancouver is great! I love the snow as long as it stays on the mountains hahah! Last year I got stuck at home for 4 DAYS!!! Drove me crazy.

A rather hot September day landed us at Van Duesen Gardens for a Sikh style ceremony. We had copious amounts of sun and the attendees at the wedding were fanning themselves and sitting anywhere a breeze would blow.

After a little fun around the garden we made our way down to the Vancouver Art Gallery for the reception. With music spun by the well know DJ Wax, we were in for a real intimate affair. Because Yasmin and Jag's family is very international and that they will be residing in Australia for a while, we thought it would be fitting to include a very special landmark in their photos that would document their special day!

Now that their photos are all done and being shipped off to Australia where they reside, we bring you some photos from this event!

Saturday was a bright and gorgeous day. The wind was blowing but not too fiercely. We made our way out to Quilchena Golf Course where Darryl and Michelle were getting married.

Our adventure then led us to Stanley Park where we did some portraits and finally ended the night at Golden Swan Restaurant on Victoria Drive.

On the prowl for scenery... off season insights

On Wednesday, Rob and I went hunting for some cool backgrounds to take brides to and also to just kinda chill out and take some photographs for ourselves. We stumbled upon some neat areas. As I edit them I will post them up.

This was a neat place. We often try to scope out new locations around town to keep our work fresh and interesting. There are lots of hidden gems in this town and it is our mission now and in years to come, to have places that will be the backdrop to daring brides and grooms!

August 2009 brought team Three Sixty Photography to the wonderful marriage of Sharon and Jas.

The first of many days took us to the Grand Taj in Surrey where we photographed the engagement/ladies party. A few days later our adventure brought us to each of their households for their Miyaan nights. The events were lively and fun with food and family being the forefront of the events. The next day came the wedding day where we found ourselves at a temple in Richmond and then finally the reception at the Law Courts in Vancouver. We hope you enjoy the photos. Due to the spread of the days, we basically had everyone in our team work on some aspect of this wedding. What a fabulous event!

August 9th, 2009 Sadia and Adil had an amazing and fast paced wedding!

Prior to the wedding they had the engagement ceremony and ladies party. The evening was filled with festivities including dancing and a grand entrance NBA style for Adil.

Suwanna and Boyen

Suwanna and Boyen got married on August 15, 2009. It was a fairly cold and cloudy morning when we started out, but as the day wore one the sun started to peek out from the clouds.

We started off at Suwanna's house first where the tea ceremony took place. After it was off to Deer Lake where we did some portraits of the bridal party. Once that was completed, they wanted McDonald's... unfortunately the one we chose happened to be closed for the day due to a water main leak... We got some fun photos there before we headed out to Pitt Meadow's Golf Club for the ceremony and reception.

The morning of September 20th 2009 was chilly. The wind was gusting and the clouds were moving at quite the pace.

Tom and Mike made their way to Teresa's house to start the day. The wedding was quite a casual affair with small traditions sprinkled in between.

The ceremony and reception was held at Quilchena Golf Course in Richmond. As our special gift to this couple we did a surprise Same Day Edit.

Yesterday we were out in Aldergrove at Poppy Estates Golf Course. BDO Dunwoody was hosting their annual golf tournament and asked us to make our way out to the course to photograph!

It was a warm day and the sun was super bright! Having all the participants not listen to instructions and come get their photo taken at the beginning, we had to chase each group down to get their photos. Good thing we got to use the golf carts!

Now that the backlog is finally starting to clear up I have had some time to pick out a couple of gems from different weddings.

We'll start off with Vicky and Jeffrey and as the week progresses I'll add more! So be sure to come back and check!

Vicky and Jeffrey got married on August 9th, 2009. They had a damp day to start, but Vicky's house made for some really interesting photo opportunities.

The crew for the day was Tom, Bonnie and Denny. They wandered the streets of Gastown for some portraits and finally ended up at QE Park for the ceremony and a reception at Season's in the Park.

Congratulations Vicky and Jeffrey! May you have a wonderful and fulfilling marriage!

Kelsey and Bryce

As the sun broke through the clouds this morning I knew that today was another special day. Today we were to shoot a short and small wedding in Stanley Park on Deadman's Island. Now, Vancouver is known for its unpredictable weather. Up until last night I was almost certain that it was going to pour rain on the wedding today. I packed my big umbrella and everything!

But as luck would have it, the sun held up and the clouds kept the temperature cool for this outdoor wedding. Bryce and Kelsey had an intimate affair, approximately a hundred of their close friends and relatives attended the event. How intimate you ask? Well at the reception they actually made a card with photos of their past that included each individual attendee! How sweet!

The ceremony itself was held on the grass with the Pan Pacific Convention Center in the background. They were married by Bryce's Opa (grandfather) and it was a very sweet event. After the ceremony we drove around Stanley Park with our convoy of cars to various areas. We had limited time so we had to work and think fast!

After a short hour of photographs we made our way back to the reception and the games and festivities would continue on into the night!

Karyn and George

To launch our September set of weddings we had the privilege of photography Karyn and George. From the first meeting I knew this couple was special. They had such a loving vibe and are definitely one of the most gracious couples I have met to date!

Karyn and George are a fun loving couple who wanted something a little different from the everyday. From the moment this wedding started you could see that these two really made a focus on providing their family and friends with a great time. So we decided to stray a bit from the ordinary photos for a little more quirky and fun!

After their ceremony at Christ Cathedral Church on Burrard and Georgia, we made our way down to the new convention center. Having took a few snaps there we hightailed it up to Westwood Plateau! We managed a few more snaps up there just as the rain began to fall.

The reception was a FABULOUS event! Cupcakes made by Karyn's army of friends were the highlight of the cake table. They even set up videogames for the kids to play in the room adjacent. The boisterous crowd hit the dance floor with a vengeance, but not before George and all the men in the room got down on one knee to serenade Karyn. So cute.

In anycase, it was great to share such a special day with this couple. Now on to what you are really here to see... the sneak preview photos!

If you are a budding hobbyist, or a person with an digital SLR camera who only knows how to use it on Auto, then this is the workshop for you!

This is a workshop. We roll up our sleeves and show you how to use your camera more effectively. We show you how to focus your images and get comfortable with using the other modes on your camera. This is not a super technical jargon course. What we teach you is a practical way to use your camera!

This is a full day jam packed workshop including breakfast, lunch and dinner! In 8 short hours we expect that your photography will dramatically improve!

We cover the basics of your cameras, key features and terms that you need to know to use your camera effectively, we teach you how to "see light", we teach you how to use what you have to get the most out of your camera.

On a bright August day, we met up with Massud and Kathleen for their wedding. The sun was blazing and the day was filled with excitement.

After a few ceremonial events at the households we made our way to Riverside Banquet Hall in Richmond where we photographed for the rest of the evening.

It was quite the event and we were extremely happy to have been part of their special day!

Amanda and Kevin

We had the pleasure of photographing Amanda and Kevin for their engagement session. We love engagement sessions because it is a much more relaxed atmosphere where we can photograph the bride and groom. During our session we get to know them a bit more as well as learn what looks best for them in terms of angles.

We decided to start in Yaletown and then took the ferry over to Granville Island for some fun! Here are a few snaps from the day! The day was a warm 23 degrees with a very mild breeze. Lots of sun bathers were out enjoying the sunshine!

Being a weekend, the areas we were in were a little more crowded than usual. We made do with what we had and I think we came out with some real gems!

We're looking forward to photographing their wedding August next year!

Matt and Joanne

Earlier this month Tom, Bonnie and Mike Lee photographed Matt and Joanne's wedding. Their chosen venue was the Willingdon Church on... well Willingdon St...

After the ceremony it was off around the city to photograph the portraits and finally ending up at the Hilton at the Crystal Mall for the reception!

The day was busy and it sure looked fun! Mike Fox, Denny and I were off at another wedding so I can't quite fill you in on all the juicy details of the days like some of the other posts! That being said I'll let the slideshow below tell the rest!

Alex and Judy

The day was a warm 25 degrees Celcius. There was a light breeze blowing through the city as we made our way to the Delta Inn Suites downtown. It was Judy and Alex's special day. Fox spent the morning with the boys as I hung out with the girls in their room.

Judy and the girls were busy running around getting prepped for the morning. We met up with a long time vendor of ours Anita Lee. She was the hair stylist for the day. Edmund was busy doing the makeup for the girls and doing a fabulous job at that!

The theme for today, relax and just enjoy the day with family and friends. Gracing the girls was a light green dress with a ivory sash tied up into a neat little bow by Edmund! Fab job!

The flowers were ivory and various shades of green... the morning was perfect. Judy presented her bridal mates with pendants and a clutch for the Matron of Honor Annie!

The boys were all revved up to cheer on their best buddy Alex and really... Alex couldn't have asked for a better set of mates!

After a suspenseful first look moment, we were on our way off to the new convention center for some portraits I think Alex was a bit nervous... what do you think?

But before running off to take photos at the new convention center... we decided to make use of this little gem!

The portraits at the new convention center was fun! It was the first time there for me and I found out that Dan, the best man was responsible for the construction of the facility! COOL! I was also fortunate enough to get a parking ticket... 15 minutes late getting back to the car... hilarity. Thanks Alex for offering to handle that ticket for me!

Predicating the civil ceremony was a Chinese Tea Ceremony honouring the generations before for their contribution to the couple's lives. Exchanges of lucky money pockets as well as jewelry as a symbol of love and happiness really helped show how blessed Alex and Judy really are.

The ceremony was in the garden of the Westwood Plateau. As violin music floated through the air, the bridal party and couple made their way down the aisle.

The evening events were held in the Panorama room at the venue. Seating approximately 240 guests the venue was intimate without being crowded. The decorations were done by A Sweet Beginning.

Bruce from Cloud Nine Creative ran the show for the videography department and presented a Same Day Edit presentation of their work.

Overall, the day was fabulous, Alex and Judy couldn't have been happier and we were there to share it with them! Congratulations!!!!!!!

Our first Baptism!

Yesterday we did our first baptism! Alexia is a long time friend of mine, we grew up and went to elementary school together. Once we graduated from elementary school into highschool we lost touch. She went over to Greece to work and I stayed here. Facebook reunited us and she had been following the progress of Three Sixty Photography for a while. It was a real pleasure and honour for her to phone me and ask if I would photograph her daughter's baptism. Alexia and her husband Marios are Greek Orthodox, so I had the real pleasure of capturing a Greek Orthodox Baptism.

It was a real pleasure to be part of such a big event in their lives. Olivia is the most precious little girl and I know with Alexia and Marios's guidance, she will become an outstanding young lady!

Candice and Jonathan - Aug 22, 2009

So to commemorate our first feature we have Candice and Jonathan's wedding!

Candice and Jonathan got married this past weekend and it was a nice day. The morning was slightly cool and breezy. It was perfect because the girls played some fun games with the boys that really made them work up a sweat. Tons of bartering later and a storming of the door, we began the tea ceremony. Matthew, pictured below, was the honorary escrow of the day, holding the money to be given to the girls in trust until the boys were let in!

The church venue was the Trinity Alliance Church located on Granville and 49th Avenue. It is a quaint little church with a warm wooden interior. The wedding was short and sweet and soon we were off to do some portraits. Below are some little gems we captured along the way.

For our portraits we decided to go a little non mainstream and found a couple of places where we did some photos. The thing we loved about Candice and Jonathan were that they were flexible in the photos. We wanted to produce something different and give a different feel, this couple let us flex a little bit of muscle and test out some new locations so... YEAH!!!

Of course, no wedding is complete without some detail shots!

Congratulations Candice and Jonathan!!! Boy you guys must be tired!

The Beginning of a New Era

Welcome to the beginning of Three Sixty Photography's new blog!

We have come to realize that so much traffic comes to us via the web. Facebook, website referrals and web marketing have all been a fabulous source of connecting to our brides, grooms and students!

As such, we have decided that we will be posting blog entries to keep all of you posted on the things that have been happening at our studio. We hope that you come back and check the blog often or even subscribe to the blog!

We have a fabulous team of photographers that give our work a refreshing new twist to wedding photography. We mix a little old, a little new and a little of our own stuff together to give you a wide range of photographs for your wedding!
